Applying for and obtaining permanent legal residency status in the United States can be a complex and intimidating task. Your chances of successfully achieving legal residency in the U.S. can increase when you have solid legal experience on your side.

 

An immigrant who has been deemed to be a lawful permanent resident (LPR) will be so for life and is entitled to a variety of benefits such as blanket permission to work in the United States, as well as some detriments such as being deemed a U.S. resident for federal tax purposes. As part of the process of obtaining LPR status, the applicant is issued an imigrant visa. This is in most cases the final stage of the LPR process. Once the individual enters the United States with an immigrant visa, he or she becomes a permanent resident.
